①-I‘ve learned that you cannot make someone love you.
All you can do is to be someone who can be loved.
The rest is up to them.
ㅡ나는 배웠다.
ㅡ다른 사람이 나를 사랑하도록 만들 수 없다는 것을.
ㅡ내가 할 수 있는 일은 사랑 받는 사람이 되도록 노력(努力)하는 것뿐.
ㅡ사랑은 사랑하는 사람의 마음에 달렸으므로...
I’ve learned that no matter how much I care,
some people just don‘t care back.
I’ve learned that it takes years to build up trust
and only seconds to destroy it.
ㅡ내가 아무리 마음을 쏟아 돌보아 주어도
ㅡ그들은 때로 아무런 반응도 하지 않는다는 것을.
ㅡ서로의 신뢰(信賴)를 쌓는 데는 여러 해가 걸려도
ㅡ무너지는 것은 한 순간이라는 것을 나는 배웠다.
②-I‘ve learned that it’s not what you have in your life,
but who you have in your life that counts.
ㅡ인생은 무엇을 얼마나 가지고 있느냐가 아니라
ㅡ믿고 의지(依支)할 만한 사람이 있느냐가 중요함을 나는 배웠다.
I‘ve learned that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes,
after that, you’d better know something.
ㅡ사람을 끄는 매력(魅力)은 채 15분을 넘기지 못하지만
ㅡ그 다음엔 서로를 깊이 알아 나가는 것임을 나는 배웠다.
I‘ve learned that you shouldn’t compare yourself
to the best others can do, but to the best you can do.
ㅡ다른 사람이 무엇을 잘하는 것에 나를 비교(比較)하기보다
ㅡ내가 무엇을 잘 할 수 있는지 알아야 함을 나는 배웠다.
③-I‘ve learned that it’s not what happens to people,
it‘s what they do about it.
ㅡ인생이란 무슨 일이 일어나느냐 하는 것 보다
ㅡ일어난 일에 어떻게 대처(對處)하느냐가 중요함을 나는 배웠다.
I've learned that no matter how thin you slice it, there are always two sides.
ㅡ무엇을 아무리 얇게 베어내도 거기에는
ㅡ언제나 양면(兩面)이 있다는 것을 나는 배웠다.
I‘ve learned that you should always leave loved ones with loving words.
It may be the last time you'll see them.
ㅡ사랑하는 사람들에게는 언제나
ㅡ사랑한다는 말을 남겨 놓아야 한다는 것을 나는 배웠다.
ㅡ어느 순간(瞬間)이 우리의 마지막 만남이 될 지 아무도 모르므로.
I've learned that you can keep going long after you think you can't.
ㅡ어떤 일을 할 수 없다고 포기(抛棄)하고 싶어질 때
ㅡ결코 포기하지 말아야함을 나는 배웠다.

④-I‘ve learned that heroes are the people who do what has to be done
when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.
ㅡ해야 할 일을 하면서도 그 결과(結果)에 대해서는
ㅡ마음을 비우는 자들이 진정한 영웅(英雄)임을 나는 배웠다.
I’ve learned that there are people, who love you dearly,
but just don‘t know how to show it.
ㅡ깊이 사랑하고 있으면서도 그것을 어떻게
ㅡ표현(表現)해야 좋을지 모르는 사람들이 있음을 나는 배웠다.
⑤-I’ve learned that sometimes when I‘m angry I have the right to be angry
but that doesn’t give me the right to be cruel.
ㅡ때로는 나에게도 분노(憤怒)할 권리는 있으나
ㅡ타인에 대해 몰인정하고 잔인하게 대할 권리(權利)는 없다는 것을 나는 배웠다.
I‘ve learned that true friendship continues to grow even
over the longest distance (,the) same goes for true love.
ㅡ우리가 아무리 멀리 떨어져 있어도
ㅡ진정한 우정(友情)은 끊임없이 두터워진다는 것을 나는 배웠다.
ㅡ그리고 사랑도 이와 같다는 것을.
I’ve learned that no matter how good a friend is,
they‘re going to hurt you every once in a while and
you must forgive them for that.
ㅡ아무리 좋은 친구(親舊)일지라도 때로는
ㅡ그들이 나의 마음을 아프게 한다.
ㅡ그렇지만 그들을 용서해야 한다는 것을 나는 배웠다.
⑥-I’ve learned that it isn‘t always enough to be forgive by others,
sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.
ㅡ그리고 타인으로부터 용서(容恕)를 받는 것 만으로는 충분하지 못하고
ㅡ내가 내 자신을 때로는 용서하는 법도 배워야 한다는 것을 나는 배웠다.
I’ve learned that no matter how bad your heart is broken,
the world doesn‘t stop for your grief.
ㅡ아무리 내 마음이 찢어질 듯 아프다고 할지라도
ㅡ내 슬픔 때문에 이 세상(世上)이 끝나는 것은 아님을 나는 배웠다.
I’ve learned that just because two people argue,
it doesn‘t mean they don’t love each other and just
because they don‘t argue, it doesn’t mean they do.
ㅡ두 사람이 다툰다고 해서 서로 사랑하지 않는 게 아님을
ㅡ또한 다투지 않는다고 해서 그것이 곧 서로 사랑하고 있음을
ㅡ의미(意味)하지는 않는다는 것을 나는 배웠다.
⑦-I‘ve learned that sometimes you have to put
the individual ahead of their actions.
ㅡ겉으로 드러나는 행위보다 더 소중한 것은
ㅡ인간(人間)임을 나는 배웠다.
I’ve learned that two people can look
at the exact same thing and see something totally different.
ㅡ두 사람이 동일(同一)한 하나의 사물을 바라보아도
ㅡ보는 것은 완전히 다를 수 있다는 것을 나는 배웠다.
I‘ve learned that no matter the consequences, those
who are honest with themselves get farther in life.
ㅡ결과를 계산하지 않고 자신에게 정직(正直)한 사람이
ㅡ결국 인생을 살아가는 데 있어서 앞선다는 것을 나는 배웠다.

⑧-I’ve learned that your life can be changed in a matter of hours
when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.
ㅡ우리가 삶에서 큰 변화(變化)를 겪게되는 계기는
ㅡ친구가 도와달라고 소리칠 때 평소에 없던 힘이
ㅡ자신에게 솟구치는 것을 자각(自覺)하고 발견하는 데서 오는 것임을 나는 배웠다.
⑨-I‘ve learned that writing, As well as talking, can ease emotional pains.
ㅡ글을 쓰는 일이 대화(對話)를 하는 것과 마찬가지로
ㅡ마음의 아픔을 덜어준다는 것을 나는 배웠다.
I’ve learned that the people you care most about in life
are taken from you too soon.
ㅡ나는 배웠다. 가장 소중(所重)한 사람들이
ㅡ너무나 빨리 이 세상을 떠난다는 것을.
I‘ve learned that it’s hard to determine where to draw the line between
being nice and not hurting people‘s feelings and standing up for what you believe.
ㅡ타인의 마음을 상하게 하지 않으면서 또한
ㅡ나의 믿는 바 내 입장(立場)을 분명히 한다는 것이
ㅡ얼마나 어려운지 나는 배웠다.
⑩-I’ve learned to love and be loved. I‘ve learned.
ㅡ나는 배웠다.
ㅡ사랑하고 사랑받는 것이 정말 소중(所重)함을.
